Step 1: Schedule a tour and come for an open house.
Our doors are always open! Come explore St. Paul of the Cross School and all that we have to offer. Sign up for one of our monthly guided tours of the school and campus or monthly Early Childhood Open Houses. During your visit you will observe classes in session and have an opportunity to discover SPC in action. Attend one of our Early Childhood Nights of Information from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on either Thursday, October 13, 2016, or Thursday, January 26, 2017. Come for a visit and hear a presentation about our programs, meet the teachers, and explore the classrooms. Or attend our Catholic Schools Week All School Open House on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Speak with the school principal, pick up an information packet, tour the buildings, visit the classrooms, talk to the teachers, and ask questions. Step 3: You have decided that SPC is the place for your child/children – now what?
November 1, 2016 - February 15, 2017: First Early Childhood (PS, PK, K) application submission period. Completed forms should be submitted to the school office*; parents will be notified of their application and acceptance status on March 6, 2017.
February 16, 2017 – June 15, 2017: Early Childhood (PS, PK, K) applications may be submitted to the school office* for any remaining open Early Childhood spots; parents will be notified in a timely manner of their application and acceptance status.
June 1, 2017: All completed Grade 1-8 applications should be submitted to the school office*.
June 2 – June 15, 2017: Assessments for Grade 1-8 applicants.
June 15, 2017: All completed Early Childhood applications should be submitted to the school office*.
June 27, 2017: Parents will be notified of their application and acceptance status.
August 1, 2017 – August 16, 2017: Applications will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis for any remaining open spots, PS through Grade 8. For students to start school on the first day, tentatively August 21, 2017, applications must be completed and accepted by the school office prior to Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
* The school office is open on school days from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.
Please bring with you the completed application form, an original birth certificate, a baptismal certificate (date if baptized at SPC), and the application fee; transfer students applying for Grades 1-8 should also bring a copy of the student’s latest report card and/or a copy of the latest standardized test scores. Step 4: You have applied – what’s next?
All applications for enrollment are accepted based on the Archdiocese of Chicago admission policy. All students new to SPC in grades 1-8 are required to participate in an interview/assessment session before beginning classes. Upon acceptance, you will be sent information regarding family enrollment in the Smart Tuition program (our web based tuition collection program), required physical, dental, and/or eye exam forms, Office of Catholic Schools Medication Authorization Form (if applicable), and Extended Day Program (EDP) information and forms (if applicable). It is an expectation that these forms will be completed and returned to the school office in a timely manner. Upon receipt of these completed forms, we will send you an email filled with important information about the upcoming school year. This electronic mailing will have information such as: annual school calendar, lunch supervision, supply lists, hot lunch program, uniform information, volunteer sign up, Protecting God’s Children requirements, sports sign up, and more.
Step 5: Attend our Shadow Day or the Early Childhood Open House.
If you are considering an SPC Early Childhood Program or have registered a student in grades 1-8, plan on having him/her attend a shadow day, tentatively on Thursday, May 18, 2017, when they will have the opportunity to spend the morning shadowing a current SPC student. You must sign up by Tuesday, May 16th, if you are planning on attending.
If you are considering SPC or you have registered an Early Childhood student (Preschool, Prekindergarten, or Kindergarten), join us for a new student open house, tentatively on Thursday, June 8, 2017; from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Let your child meet some of their classmates while you meet some of the other parents.
Step 6: Watch for August emails.
In early to mid August, you will be receiving an email from the principal with important information about the imminent start of school. You will see important dates for the beginning of classes as well as information about medication procedures, what days to bring lunches and beverages, when milk service begins, etc. If you have a child attending Preschool, Prekindergarten, or Kindergarten you will also be getting an email from your child’s teacher. This email will inform you of the date and time of your orientation sessions and give you a short supply list.
