August 13th Back to School Important Information

Dear SPC Parents,

We are excited to get the school year started! Here are a few friendly reminders as we prepare for the start of the school year.

WHEN WILL MY CHILD GET THE EXCITING NEWS ABOUT THEIR NEW TEACHER/SCHEDULE?
We had initially hoped they would be available this week; however, we are changing the format. We will email you the information by next Thursday morning, August 19. You will not receive your child's teacher assignment unless your health forms have been turned in or you have given us an appointment card. See below for health form information.

MASKS
Per my email last week, we will start the year wearing masks. I am hopeful that this will be temporary and not an all-year mandate. However, we will continue to prioritize safety. I appreciate all the emails I have received regarding parent support of this safety measure! Believe me, I will be overjoyed when the masks can come off. Until then, safety first!

TEACHER MEET AND GREET

HEALTH FORMS FOR NEXT YEAR WERE DUE AUGUST 1, 2021--It is now a late homework assignment!

  • All students entering Preschool will need a physical exam form.
  • All new/transfer students (Grades PreK – 8) will need a physical, eye, and dental exam.
  • All students entering Kindergarten will need a physical, eye, and dental exam.
  • Students entering Second Grade will need a dental exam.
  • Students entering Sixth Grade will need to provide a physical exam form.

When you turn in health forms to the office, please check they are complete before submitting them.

  • Physical Form: Fill out the top section with the student's information. On the top of page 2, complete the Health History section - circle yes/no and please sign and date by Parent Signature.
  • Eye Exam Form: Sign and date the box: Consent of Parent or Guardian on page 2.

Forms were sent home and can also be found on our website or in the EGC and UGC Offices. Completed examination forms were due in the office by August 1, 2021. Your child's teacher assignment will not be available until you have turned in a completed Physical Examination Form or proof that an appointment for a physical has been scheduled. Failure to provide a completed form or appointment information by Tuesday, August 24, 2021, will result in your child being excluded from the first day of school. Your child will continue to be excluded from school until the completed form is provided, or an appointment is scheduled.

Completed forms can be emailed to Bridget Fletcher (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or dropped off at school during our summer hours - Tues, Wed, Thurs from 9:00 am – 12 pm.

Please direct all questions regarding examinations and requirements to Mrs. Bridget Fletcher at 847-825-6366 x3601 or Mrs. Linda Foy x3602.

UNIFORMS

Given that masks will continue, we will start the year with the SPIRIT WEAR COVID DRESS CODE! This dress code will be in effect from August – December. We will reevaluate in the Fall and give parents plenty of time to secure the correct uniform should guidelines change.

Students may wear any SPC clothing on any day. If students would like to wear gym uniforms each day, that is fine.

  • If students are more comfortable in the uniform skirt or jumper, that is fine as well.
  • Any SPC top can be worn at any time
  • Only uniform bottoms can be worn (gym shorts, gym pants, khaki/navy pants, or shorts or skirts).
  • Any SPC top of spirit wear can be worn.

All items purchased at Lands' End or the spirit wear shop can be worn anytime from August – December. We will most likely return to the regular dress code after Christmas vacation.

All faculty and staff are also permitted to wear spirit wear until the mask provision is lifted.

REMOTE LEARNING

We will not be offering long-term remote learning this year. Should individuals need to quarantine due to close contact exposure, we will offer the short-term remote learning that was used last year during class quarantines.
