November 14, 2019

Dear SPC Parents,

This past week, local Catholic Schools in our area have made announcements in regards to their sustainability for the next school year. In recent months, prior to even the announcement of local Catholic schools, we are pleased to have a very strong interest in both the Early Childhood program and transfers into our K-8 program for the 2020-2021 school year. For some of our K-8 grades, there is limited availability for transfer students. Due to the high demand from both current and prospective families and in order to maintain our standards of excellence, we will be adhering to our priority of admissions.

In order to maintain the quality academic program and smaller class sizes, we have always had the practice of maintaining the number of transfer student space at each grade level. This will not change; we will always maintain focused attention on class size that is in alignment with school culture and curricular expectations. We will begin accepting students for the 2020-21 school year in grades 1-8 based on the current level of available space given our current staffing and schedule capacity. Once our current families re-register, we will determine if there is additional space available at each grade. We will also determine if there are grades that can add an additional homeroom. For grades Preschool-Kindergarten we will accept new students from new families after the January 24, 2020 deadline according to our priority of admissions.

We are very blessed at SPC to have a strong and robust enrollment with room for growth. Please keep those families who are now faced with transitioning their children to a new school in your thoughts and prayers.

RE-REGISTRATION FOR 2020-21 School Year:
Long before the recent announcements, the increased number of new families interested in SPC required that we move up our re-registration and simplify the process for the 2020-21 school year. In order to provide the most time for planning, we will follow the timeline and process outlined below. Thank you in advance for your timely response as it will allow us time to best plan for curriculum, staffing, schedule, and fiscal considerations.

Re-Registration Timeline for 2020-21 School Year for Current Students:
As always, you are an important part of St. Paul of the Cross School and we are giving our current families the first priority to re-register your current students or submit an application if you have a new student. It is my hope that all our current families will return to SPC. However, if you have different plans we kindly request that you indicate your response on the form below:

  1. Re-registration is now open for the 2020-2021 School Year. The deadline for re-registration is January 21st.  PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE RE-REGISTRATION FORM. ALL FAMILIES MUST COMPLETE THIS FORM EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT RETURNING.
  2. Once you complete the re-registration form, the school office will register your child in PowerSchool.
  3. On January 30, 2020 your Smart Tuition Account will be billed for the re-registration fees as follows:

    1st/Oldest/Only Child  $100.00

    Re-registration for 2nd Child  $50.00

    Re-registration for 3rd Child $50.00

    Re-registration for additional children after 3rd $20.00/child.

  4. If you are registering a new student from the same family who has not previously been enrolled at SPC, please submit a new student application to the main office.
  5. Even if the re-registration form is completed, your child will not be considered re-registered unless all this year’s (2019-2020) tuition and fees are current as of Jan. 21, 2020.

Admissions Information for Current Families with New Students:
As of November 1st, we have begun accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. If you will have an incoming new student, please complete a new student application. As a current family you will of course receive priority, however to help us with understanding the numbers we would appreciate those applications to be completed as soon as possible. You may pick up an application in the school office or click
here for the online application and Early Childhood selection forms.

Information About 2020-21 Tuition and School Calendar
Next week we will be mailing home information about tuition rates for the 2020-21 School year as well as the 2020-21 School Calendar. The finance committee, in collaboration with the Administration, is in the process of determining the tuition and fees for next school year.

St. Paul of the Cross Adopt A Family Program
We are proud to bring back the St. Paul of the Cross Adopt a Family program. The program is run through the St. Paul of the Cross Parish Social Service Ministry and Servants of St. Francis. Please see immediately below my letter for information on how it works.

How does it work? Each grade will adopt a family in need to help make Christmas a special time. Grade specific lists will be emailed by a Servants of St. Francis volunteer and may also be found in the Thursday Mailing documents. This year, we will use Signup.com to manage the items purchased.  When you receive the email for your child’s grade, please log into Signup.com and select an item you wish to purchase. The family gifts will be managed by the volunteer for each grade.

There are two ways to participate:

  1. Choose a name/item from your child’s grade specific list on Signup.com and purchase the item.  Wrap all gifts individually. Label all gifts with the following info: Recipient's name and name of item inside the gift. Before the gifts are given to the families they will be re-labeled without the name of the item.  We need the item name for inventory purposes. Please include gift receipts, especially for clothes. Send the wrapped and labeled gifts with your student to their homeroom.
  2. Monetary donations can be submitted here.

Gifts are due by Monday, December 9, 2019.
Last year the stocking stuffers we collected were a big success!  We will be going it again this year! Please consider sending a small unwrapped stocking stuffer to school with your child.  It will be added to the stockings that will be hung in your child's classroom. The stocking will be given to the families with their other gifts as a little something extra from “The Tiger Elves”. Please keep the children in the families ages and genders in mind when choosing.

Thank you in advance for your generosity. The hearts of many are touched by the wonderful sharing and kindness by the St. Paul of the Cross School Community. Thank you for making Christmas special for families in need. If you have any questions, please reach out to your grade volunteer.

ornaments 3

SPC's Life Team had our November meeting yesterday and we made Christmas ornaments for a tree at the Summit. The Summit's theme this year is trees from around the world and we had Ireland (hence all the green ornaments!). Our team will be going there in December to decorate the tree and sing Christmas carols.

We are always looking for new members so if your 6th, 7th or 8th grader is still interested in joining, please join us at our next meeting in December!
