September 26, 2019

Dear SPC Parents,

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and generosity for the Tiger Fun Run! We are so close to our goal of $65,000! The funds raised will go to support our enhanced STEAM program and to pay for the new instructional materials we added this year: a new K-8 Social Studies Curriculum, Spanish Curriculum for Early Childhood through Grade 8, and an Early Childhood Math program. I know the kids have had a wonderful week wearing comfy clothes, extra recess and some crazy hair!

As we prepare for the run tomorrow, we have to consider the weather. As of right now, it looks like there is an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms. We have decided to move the run into the gym, but do not worry, we will still have a ton of fun because it will be a Tiger Fun Run Glow RUN! Water will not be served to students in the gym for safety and slipping on the floor purposes. Students should bring water bottles to drink before the run and when they return to their classrooms.

We do not need extra volunteers, as our 8th graders will be marking laps. However, we want Friday to be one of the best days of the year for the students. We would LOVE for you to still come to the run at your child’s assigned time and cheer on the students!

Glow run schedule in the Gym:

  • PS           8:15 - 8:55am
  • PK - Kdg  9:05 -10:00
  • 1st - 3rd  10:05 - 11:05am
  • 4th - 5th  12:45-1:45pm
  • 6th - 8th   2:00-2:55pm

Congratulations to all of our students who helped to secure a pledge from all 50 States! Truth be told, I am looking forward to the slime a little more than I was being on the roof!

What Does My Child Wear During the Tiger Fun Run?
All students will be given Fun Run T shirts tomorrow morning. Teachers will send students to the bathroom to change. Students should wear gym shoes and whatever comfortable running shorts/pants they choose.

8th Grade Retreat Next Week
Next Tuesday and Wednesday the 8th graders will be on retreat in Wisconsin. Please keep them in your prayers during these 2 days of team building and fun!

Grandparents/Grand Friends Day

SPC Information and Updates

Notes From the School Offices

Tardies
It is very important to get your child(ren) to school on time. This year school begins at 8:00 am. A child is considered tardy after 8:00 am. There are only 5 minutes of homeroom time in the UGC before students change for their first period class. When a student comes in late, it is a disruption to the teacher who is trying to begin teaching. Therefore, please have your child(ren) work on good organizational skills by getting things ready the night before and having them to school on time.

Lunches
Fast food lunches are forbidden at SPC School. An outside lunch may be brought in once a year on your child(ren's) birthday only. We understand that there are emergencies that happen, however, in fairness to all students, we ask that you please adhere to this policy.

Picture Day
Today your child will be bringing home a picture day order form. You may return the form to your child's homeroom teacher on or before picture day on Thursday, October 3rd or you may order online using the school code: 10022801

Volunteer Opportunity for 6th - 8th Graders
For Respect Life Month (October), the SPC Life Team will be coordinating the Baby Bottle Project which is in support of the Women's Center of Greater Chicagoland. Baby bottles are distributed to the parish/school and families fill them with spare change during the month.

We need some extra volunteers to help distribute the baby bottles at the end of each mass the weekend of September 28th and 29th. 8th graders will receive service hours for helping. If your 6th - 8th grade child can help out, please sign them up here
