8th Grade Graduation 2020

Congratulations St. Paul of the Cross School Class of 2020!

Although our traditions looked a little different this year, we still celebrated the SPC Class of 2020 with plenty of pomp and circumstance! Throughout their years at SPC, this class has grown into a remarkable group of young scholars, artists, performers, athletes, volunteers, leaders, and supporters! We thank our Class of 2020 families for making SPC a better place!

On Tuesday, May 26th, Father Britto held a special Mass for our Class of 2020 (they participated virtually), and he blessed the ribbons of the graduates. Later that day, the graduates arrived at school in their caps and gowns, and the teachers presented them with their ribbons. Students went to their spots (socially distanced!) along Ridge Terrace and Summit Avenue and enjoyed a wonderful car parade in their honor! SPC families from all grades, along with the friends and families of the graduates, honored the Class of 2020 driving by them in their decorated cars. Immediately following the parade, the students went back to the parking lot for a class photo taken by a drone camera!

The following evening, SPC held the first-ever Drive-In Graduation that honored our graduates all while keeping to the social distancing guidelines.

To start off the graduation, St. Paul of the Cross Men’s Club President, Randy Bull, presented the Tenth Annual Rising Star Scholarship. He began by sharing the news that they renamed this special special scholarship, dedicating it to the late Joe Capitani, whose unwavering dedication to the Men’s Club and the whole St. Paul of the Cross community will continue to inspire us. Congratulations to Cian Haugh, the 2020 Joe Capitani Rising Star Memorial Scholarship recipient! Cian will attend Notre Dame College Prep in the fall.

Father Britto blessed the graduates, and one by one, our 46 graduates came up to receive their diplomas. The giant screen showed each graduate’s photo as they were called up. The applause was loud and clear in the form of the honking horns!

After the graduation ceremony, the faculty and administration delivered popcorn and candy to each car, and they enjoyed the incredible Memory Day video on the giant Drive-In movie screen.

Congratulations St. Paul of the Cross School 2020 Graduates!
