Eva Bryjak

Eva Bryjak

Welcome to Mrs. Bryjak's PreKindergarten Classroom!

Want to know what grade the happiest teacher gets to teach? Preschool and Prekindergarten of course!  My name is Eva Bryjak (everyone calls me Mrs. B) and I am one of the prekindergarten teachers at St. Paul of the Cross. I grew up in Park Ridge attending Mary, Seat of Wisdom followed by St. Ignatius and the University of Illinois at Chicago. The school year 2015-2016 marks my eleventh year teaching anniversary.

The past nine years I have been teaching preschool and prekindergarten at SPC.  In my classroom each child has their own personal developmental milestone to reach.  For some children the goal is to to learn to share and wait their turn, another goal is learning to follow multi-step directions, and for others a goal is learning to use words to express wants and needs. Watching each individual child grow emotionally and achieve these milestones is one of the greatest privileges and joys of being a teacher.

WHAT WE DID LAST WEEK:

Going along with the theme of Chinese New Year, we learned this is the year of the Rooster.  We read a Fairy Tale called The Seven Chinese Sisters and we made colorful New Year Lanterns.

Every Wednesday we make our word list for the letter of the week.

Last week, we came up with 59 words that begin with the /p/ sound.  Included in the list, were words like pendant and pelican.  In math we focused on printing numbers 1 and 2.

Sight Word Update:  Before a new sight word list is handed out, children are asked to read all words from previous lists.

NEXT WEEK:

The letter of the week is Jj, with Show & Tell on Monday for items that begin with the /j/ sound.  In math we will practice printing number 3.

Our theme next week is Valentine’s Day & Friendship.  We have a fun day planned for Monday complete with Valentine’s Day Alphabet Bingo, a balloon game in the gym, and a Valentine Mail Delivery Game.  Finally, Mrs. Parisi and I will be treating everyone to an ice cream sundae!

On Wednesday we will make our list of words that begin with the /j/ sound.  Let’s see what we come up with this week!
