Eva Bryjak

Welcome to Mrs. Bryjak's PreKindergarten Classroom!

Want to know what grade the happiest teacher gets to teach? Preschool and Prekindergarten of course!  My name is Eva Bryjak (everyone calls me Mrs. B) and I am one of the prekindergarten teachers at St. Paul of the Cross. I grew up in Park Ridge attending Mary, Seat of Wisdom followed by St. Ignatius and the University of Illinois at Chicago. The school year 2015-2016 marks my eleventh year teaching anniversary.

The past nine years I have been teaching preschool and prekindergarten at SPC.  In my classroom each child has their own personal developmental milestone to reach.  For some children the goal is to to learn to share and wait their turn, another goal is learning to follow multi-step directions, and for others a goal is learning to use words to express wants and needs. Watching each individual child grow emotionally and achieve these milestones is one of the greatest privileges and joys of being a teacher.

PREK UPDATE:  MARCH 27-31, 2017

*No school on Friday, March 31

Our letter of the week was Rr.  In addition to our usual list of words beginning with the /r/ sound (we came up with 47 words), the children had fun drawing their own robots.

We continue to practice rhyming words.  We play a game where students are each given a picture and they have to find their rhyming partner.  We also had listening activities where the students followed along on a CD.  One listening activity asked students had to draw a picture to complete a rhyme.   In another activity, the students were asked to find and cross out the picture that did not rhyme with the rest.

Our letter of the week is Xx.  We will have an EXtra special show & tell on Wednesday.  The children may bring any item they want for any of the letters learned so far, Aa, Bb. Dd, Ff, Hh, Ii, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Tt, Vv, Ww, Xx, or Zz.

Our weather theme continues with a science experiment using shaving cream and food coloring.  The students are going to see what happens when the food coloring passes through the shaving cream…it rains!  We are also going to make could dough.

Our number next week is 7.  We will look for groups of 7 around the classroom.  We will also practice writing 7, along with reviewing writing numbers 1-6.

Please help your child “earn” money to support the Lenten Mission Project by doing and extra chore.  We have $30 in our jar.  Thank you for your support!
